Relevanz und Potenzial aktueller Modelle zur Geschäftsmodellinnovation als praktisch angewandte Management-Tools für die Entwicklung digitaler Geschäftsmodelle

  • In this master thesis the question if companies use current models of business model innovation as a tool to innovate their own business model is being addressed. The relevance of this question comes from the fact that digitization is changing a great number of business environments and companies have to adapt to these changes. To investigate the question two different types of empirical studies are conducted. First experts are interviewed and then a survey among German companies is executed. The results of the studies show that business consultants use the Business Model Canvas on a regular basis in their work with companies. However, neither the Business Model Canvas nor the Business Model Navigator are especially well known in the companies themselves. Even less companies actually use them to innovate their business model. Slight coherencies between various characteristics of companies and the usage of the presented models can be found.
